DOD APEX Accelerators

In October 2022, the formerly named Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) programs shifted administration from Defense Logistics Agency to the DOD Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). With that shift came a new name of the Alaska APEX Accelerator.

While there is no shift in the technical assistance delivered by the programs, it does create an alignment with goals of the DOD OSBP. APEX Accelerators serve as the axis for existing and new businesses to strengthen the defense industrial base by accelerating innovation, fostering ingenuity, and establishing resilient and diverse supply chains.

The DOD program vision is to build and enhance a diverse and resilient domestic industrial base that can deliver preeminent solutions to the military and other government users. APEX and its centers are a critical component of the government’s small business strategy. Goals include:

  • Growing the Defense Industrial Base and Government Industrial Base
  • Strengthening the Supply Chain
  • Increasing Diversity and Inclusion
  • Facilitating Cyber Security Compliance and Training
  • Providing Foreign Ownership, Control, and Inclusion (FOCI) Awareness Trainings

The Alaska APEX will continue to offer the technical assistance we always have and will continue with the same personnel you know today. That will not change. What has changed is the mission of the program. It’s been expanded to provide additional support to DOD’s industry partners and strengthen the defense industrial base.

The DOD Office of Small Business Programs offers many resources for working with the DOD.

This APEX Accelerator is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
