The U.S. government is the largest single purchaser of goods and services in the world, buying everything from paper clips to armored tanks.  Every year the federal government awards more than $500 Billion in contracts with a significant share of those contracts allotted to small businesses.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) works with federal agencies to award at least 23 percent of all prime government contracts to small businesses.  The 8(a) Business Development Program enables SBA to provide small businesses that are socially and economically disadvantaged an opportunity to have the chance to gain access to federal prime contracts while assisting with development and growth of the 8(a) certified small business.
