State and local (SLED) small business certification programs vary widely: definitions, eligibility rules, application processes, and even program names differ from state to state, and sometimes from city to city or county to county within the same state. As a result, a contractor operating in one or across multiple jurisdictions can face a confusing patchwork of requirements — and the pain of sitting through a separate orientation or webinar for every state where they do business.
This course takes a different approach. Rather than walking through the specific rules of any one state, it teaches the fundamental principles that apply across nearly every SLED certification program, so contractors can confidently research and pursue certification in any state or locality on their own.
Participants will learn how to:
- Identify certification programs relevant to their business.
- Evaluate whether they meet a jurisdiction’s small business size and eligibility standards, which often differ from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s federal standards.
- Locate official resources and application steps for a given state or locality.
- Use AI tools to accelerate research and streamline the data and document gathering required for applications.
- Find human experts when personalized guidance is needed.
By the end of the course, contractors will have a repeatable method for navigating any state or local certification program regardless of whether they seek certification in one state/jurisdiction or multiple.
This webinar is presented by Govology and has a registration fee. To attend the webinar free of charge, there is an Alaska APEX discount coded offered to Alaska-registered APEX Accelerators clients only.
